Hydrojetting Services in Woodland Hills, CA
Some clogs do not respond to a snake. Decades of grease in a restaurant kitchen line. Tree roots in a 70-year-old clay sewer lateral. Mineral scale built up so thick that the drain pipe diameter has been cut in half from the inside. For these, you need water. Specifically, water at 4,000 PSI or higher, delivered by professional-grade hydrojetting equipment. Bryco Plumbing has been hydrojetting drain and sewer lines across Woodland Hills, the SF Valley, LA County, and Ventura County for years. License #708581. The right tool for the kind of clog that does not give up easily.

Our Hydrojetting Process
Step 1: Camera Inspection First
For any non-emergency hydrojetting job, we run a camera through the line first to confirm the pipe is in good enough condition to be jetted. High-pressure water can damage compromised pipes (severely corroded cast iron, deteriorated clay, or thin-walled PVC). Skipping the camera step is how some plumbers turn a manageable problem into a much bigger one. We do not skip it.
Step 2: Access and Setup
We access the drain or sewer line through the nearest cleanout, set up the jetter, and pull the hose to the entry point. For sewer lines, this is usually an exterior cleanout. For drain lines, it is sometimes a roof vent or an interior access point.
Step 3: Active Jetting
The nozzle is fed into the line and the jets are turned on. Water pressure breaks up the clog, cuts roots if present, and scours the pipe walls. The nozzle moves through the full length of the affected line, often several times, until the line is fully clear.
Step 4: Post-Jet Camera Verification
We run the camera through the freshly cleaned line to confirm it is clear, document the result, and identify any underlying pipe issues (cracks, joint separations, partial collapses) that may need follow-up work. You get the video as part of the job.

When Hydrojetting Is the Right Choice
- Grease buildup in kitchen drains or restaurant lines. Grease coats the inside of pipes over years. A snake punches through it. Jetting removes it.
- Tree root intrusion in sewer laterals. Mature trees in older Valley neighborhoods (Encino, Tarzana, Studio City, Sherman Oaks) send roots into clay and cast iron sewer lines through joints and small cracks. Hydrojetting cuts the roots and clears them out. Pairing with a follow-up camera inspection identifies how to keep them from coming back.
- Hard water scale buildup inside drain lines, where calcium and magnesium deposits restrict flow. Common in Valley homes with no whole-home water treatment.
- Recurring clogs in the same line. If a drain has been snaked twice in six months, snaking again is not the answer. Hydrojetting addresses the underlying buildup that keeps causing the clog.
- Commercial drain maintenance. Restaurants, gyms, multi-tenant buildings, and any property with high drain volume benefit from scheduled hydrojetting as part of preventive maintenance.
Hydrojetting Versus Snaking: How to Decide
Both tools have their place. We pick based on the situation, not based on which one bills higher.
- Snaking is better for: single isolated clogs, hair clogs in bathroom fixtures, soft food clogs in kitchen sinks, and any clog where the pipe itself is in good condition
- Hydrojetting is better for: grease accumulation, root intrusion, mineral scale, recurring clogs, commercial drain maintenance, and pre-lining cleaning before epoxy pipe coating
- Often the right answer is both: snake to clear the immediate blockage, then jet to clean the line so it does not happen again
What Hydrojetting Actually Does
A standard drain snake punches a hole through a clog and gets the water flowing again. Hydrojetting cleans the whole pipe. The difference matters when the underlying issue is buildup over years, not a one-time blockage.

Frequently Asked Questions About Hydrojetting
For pipes in good structural condition, yes. Hydrojetting is the standard professional drain cleaning method used by municipal utilities and commercial drain services for that reason. For pipes that are already badly compromised, the pressure can cause further damage, which is why we always do a camera inspection first to assess the pipe before jetting. We adjust pressure settings based on what we find.
Cost depends on the line size, length, severity of buildup, and access. A residential sewer lateral hydrojetting job is typically more than a basic drain snake but is also a more complete service. Compared to repeatedly snaking a recurring problem, jetting almost always saves money over a year or two. We give a written estimate before the job.
A typical residential sewer lateral takes 90 minutes to 2 hours including setup, jetting, and camera verification. Commercial jobs vary based on line size and length. We give a written time estimate and tell you immediately if anything during the job changes that timeline.
Most residential sewer lines do not need scheduled hydrojetting unless there is a specific reason. Homes with mature trees over the sewer lateral, older cast iron or clay lines, or recurring clogs benefit from annual hydrojetting. Commercial properties with high drain volume (restaurants especially) typically schedule quarterly or semi-annual jetting as part of maintenance.
