Drain Cleaning in Woodland Hills, CA
Every home gets a clog eventually. Some are obvious (the toilet that backs up on a holiday morning). Some build up slowly until the drain that used to clear in three seconds takes thirty. Bryco Plumbing clears drains across Woodland Hills, the San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles, and Ventura County, usually the same day you call. After more than 30 years of clearing every kind of clog this region produces (grease, hair, hard water scale, tree roots, mineral buildup, and the occasional toy), we know the difference between a quick snake job and a sign of something bigger. How We Actually Clear a Drain
The right tool for the right clog. We do not pour chemicals down your drain (more on why below) and we do not start every job with the biggest machine on the truck. We start with diagnosis.
Mechanical Snaking (Cable Cleaning)
The classic approach. A motorized cable with cutting heads is run through the drain to physically break up and clear the obstruction. Works well for hair clogs, soft food debris, soap scum, and most household clogs in branch drains. Most fixture-level clogs in Woodland Hills homes are solved with a snake in under an hour.
Hydrojetting for Tougher Clogs
When the clog involves grease, mineral scale, or tree roots in larger lines, snaking is not enough. Hydrojetting uses high-pressure water (4,000 PSI or higher) to actually scour the inside of the pipe clean rather than just punching a hole through the blockage. We move to hydrojetting (link to /hydrojetting/) when snaking will not solve the underlying problem.
Camera Inspection for Recurring or Mystery Clogs
If a drain keeps clogging in the same spot, the clog is not the problem. The pipe is. A video camera inspection (link to /sewer-video-inspection/) shows us exactly what is causing the recurring backup: a partial collapse, a belly in the line, root intrusion, or a misaligned joint.

Types of Drains We Clean
- Kitchen sink drains clogged with grease, food debris, soap scum, and dishwasher residue
- Bathroom sink drains almost always hair, toothpaste, and personal care product buildup
- Tub and shower drains hair is the universal culprit, sometimes with mineral scale on top
- Toilet drains for clogs that a plunger cannot resolve, including foreign objects and overflow events
- Laundry drains and standpipes lint, sediment, and detergent residue accumulate over years
- Floor drains often forgotten until they back up, common in garages and basements
- Main sewer lines the larger drain serving the whole house, often the culprit when multiple fixtures back up at once
- Outdoor drains driveway drains, area drains, and catch basins that collect debris over the season
Why We Do Not Use Chemical Drain Cleaners
Drain cleaning chemicals (the stuff sold in jugs at the hardware store) cause more problems than they solve, and we have spent 30 years dealing with the aftermath.
- They damage older pipes. Caustic drain chemicals corrode cast iron, copper, and the rubber gaskets in PVC fittings. In older Valley homes with aging pipes, the chemicals can shorten pipe life by years.
- They rarely fix the problem. A chemical that punches a small hole through a clog leaves the rest of the blockage in place. The drain reopens for a day or two and then re-clogs.
- They are dangerous to handle. Caustic burns on skin, fumes that damage lungs, and reactions with other household chemicals that produce toxic gases.
- They make the eventual professional fix more expensive. A drain full of caustic chemicals is hazardous to snake or jet. Tell us if you used chemicals before we arrive so we can protect ourselves.
Signs You Have More Than a Simple Clog
Some drain problems are routine. Others are warnings.
- Multiple drains in the house backing up at the same time (likely a main line issue, not a fixture clog)
- Sewage smell from drains or in the yard
- Gurgling sounds from drains when fixtures elsewhere in the house are used
- A toilet that bubbles when the washing machine drains or the shower runs
- Slow drainage that returns within days of being cleared
- Water backing up out of floor drains or shower drains
- Lush, green patches of grass over the sewer line path in the yard

Frequently Asked Questions About Drain Cleaning
Cost depends on the location of the clog, the equipment needed, and how much work is involved. A simple bathroom sink snake job is significantly less than a main sewer line backup that requires hydrojetting or camera inspection. We give you a written estimate before any work starts, with no surprise charges added later.
For interior fixture work, yes, so we can access the drain and walk through what we found. For main sewer line work that can be done from an exterior cleanout, we can coordinate access without you being on site. We document the work and send photos or video as needed.
A typical fixture-level snake job takes 30 to 60 minutes. A main sewer line snake job runs 60 to 90 minutes. Hydrojetting a main line takes 90 minutes to 3 hours depending on severity. We give you an honest time estimate when we arrive and you see the work happen.
Most Valley homes do not need scheduled drain cleaning unless there is a recurring issue. Homes with mature trees over the sewer lateral, older cast iron lines, or commercial kitchens benefit from annual or semi-annual hydrojetting. We will tell you honestly whether your situation warrants preventive cleaning or just call-as-needed service.

Finished in the less than two hours. Dan was efficient and friendly which is always a pleasure and he did not mind me watching the process. Always interesting to see how things are done. I normally have a plumber that I use, but unfortunately he was out of town, so last night around 6:30 PM I called Bryco Plumbing because my toilet was clogged. To my surprise, Bryan, the owner, answered the phone himself after hours. He was extremely nice, answered all of my questions, and told me he could have someone out first thing in the morning. This morning, Joshua came to the house. He was polite, professional, efficient, and had the toilet fixed within an hour. From calling at 6:30 at night and having the owner actually answer the phone, to having someone at my house the next morning and the problem taken care of quickly, the entire experience was fantastic. I am so thrilled that I ended up calling Bryco Plumbing. I almost never leave reviews, but when a company provides this level of service, I feel like you have to pass along the praise. Bryco Plumbing definitely earned a new customer. Highly recommend!Posted on Google Paige McmillenTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. On time, courteous, fair price, and sink and tub are draining well. Simi resident thanks youPosted on Google Richard DeemTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The technician, Dan, spent a number of hours replacing a broken, difficultly positioned anti-siphon valve and shutoff valve. Since the shutoff valve was broken, he had to turn off the main water line, which required calling out LADWP. Dan replaced the shutoff valve and elevated the new anti-siphon valve to make it easier to service. Dan was professional, friendly and worked systematically through very warm summer temperatures. Very nice work through a challenging task.Posted on Google Susan BernardTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Leak detection.
