Trenchless Pipe Repair in Woodland Hills, CA

The old way of repairing a sewer line involved a backhoe, a trench across your yard, two weeks of disruption, and a hefty bill for restoring whatever was on the surface above the line. That is no longer the only option. Trenchless pipe repair has changed sewer work entirely. Most aging sewer laterals in Woodland Hills, the San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles, and Ventura County can now be repaired or replaced with minimal surface disturbance, often in a single day. Bryco Plumbing has been doing trenchless work for years. License #708581. We will tell you honestly whether your line is a good candidate, and if it is not, we will tell you that too.

Two Main Trenchless Methods

Method 1: Pipe Lining (CIPP)

See our dedicated epoxy pipe coating page for the full breakdown of the CIPP process.

Method 2: Pipe Bursting

Pipe bursting replaces the existing line entirely without a full trench. We dig two small access pits, then pull a conical bursting head through the existing pipe. The head fractures the old pipe outward into the surrounding soil while simultaneously pulling new HDPE pipe into place behind it. The result is a brand-new sewer line in the same path as the old one, installed in a single day in most cases. Best for: pipes that are too damaged to line, including collapsed sections, severe corrosion, or undersized pipes that need to be upgraded.

Cost Comparison: Trenchless vs. Traditional

The pipe itself is usually a small line item. The big costs in any sewer line replacement are excavation, surface restoration, and disruption. Here is how it pencils out in typical Valley situations:

  • Sewer line in open lawn with easy access: Traditional excavation is often the lowest-cost option. The surface restoration is just regrading and re-seeding the lawn.
  • Sewer line under driveway or hardscape: Trenchless almost always wins on total cost. Traditional excavation requires breaking up and replacing the hardscape, which adds significant cost.
  • Sewer line under mature landscaping: Trenchless wins because the landscaping does not have to be removed and replaced.
  • Long sewer line runs: Trenchless costs scale less with length than traditional excavation, since the pit-to-pit distance is the main variable, not trench length.

Frequently Asked Questions About Trenchless Pipe Repair

Pipe lining typically completes in a single day from setup to curing. Pipe bursting usually takes one to two days depending on length. Compare that to traditional excavated replacement, which can run three to five days plus surface restoration time, and the time savings are significant.

It depends on what is on the surface above the line. If the line runs through open lawn with easy access, traditional excavation can be cheaper because the surface restoration is minimal. If the line runs under driveways, hardscape, mature trees, or finished landscaping, trenchless is almost always cheaper because you avoid the cost of restoring all that surface area. We give you written estimates for both methods when both are viable.

A properly installed CIPP liner is rated for 50 years or longer. A pipe bursting installation creates a brand-new HDPE pipe with a similar 50-plus-year expected life. Both methods produce results that should last as long as a traditional replacement, with the same kind of warranty coverage.

No. Trenchless methods do not work for every situation. Severely sagging pipes (bellies), pipes with fundamentally wrong alignment, pipes with too many sharp turns, and certain access situations all rule out trenchless. The only honest way to know if your line is a candidate is a camera inspection first.

Start to finish contacting their office to request an estimate was easy and quick! Given a two hour window for service estimate and the name of technician. Received an email tech. was on the way and he arrived on time at the beginning of the window time 10-12. He gave me a quote to install a auto gas shut off valve for earthquakes & it was 1/2 the price of other quote and could do it right away! Very personable and got right to work. Finished in the less than two hours. Dan was efficient and friendly which is always a pleasure and he did not mind me watching the process. Always interesting to see how things are done. Thank you for taking care of this task and definately have Bryco in my contact records. Thank you Dan for your help today.

I normally have a plumber that I use, but unfortunately he was out of town, so last night around 6:30 PM I called Bryco Plumbing because my toilet was clogged. To my surprise, Bryan, the owner, answered the phone himself after hours. He was extremely nice, answered all of my questions, and told me he could have someone out first thing in the morning. This morning, Joshua came to the house. He was polite, professional, efficient, and had the toilet fixed within an hour. From calling at 6:30 at night and having the owner actually answer the phone, to having someone at my house the next morning and the problem taken care of quickly, the entire experience was fantastic. I am so thrilled that I ended up calling Bryco Plumbing. I almost never leave reviews, but when a company provides this level of service, I feel like you have to pass along the praise. Bryco Plumbing definitely earned a new customer. Highly recommend!

The technician, Dan, spent a number of hours replacing a broken, difficultly positioned anti-siphon valve and shutoff valve. Since the shutoff valve was broken, he had to turn off the main water line, which required calling out LADWP. Dan replaced the shutoff valve and elevated the new anti-siphon valve to make it easier to service. Dan was professional, friendly and worked systematically through very warm summer temperatures. Very nice work through a challenging task.
